Collaborations

Different skills. Shared opportunities.

Explore collaborations

We put our experience with legacy systems at the disposal of those designing a migration. We can take part from the feasibility study, with specialist skills, method, and tools that help define the work before commitments are made.

Three contexts where we can make a difference.

Every organisation brings different knowledge, relationships, and responsibilities. Our contribution is defined by the opportunity we are evaluating together.

System integrators and software houses

When an opportunity needs skills outside the team.

A modernisation project may involve legacy components, archives, or application rules that are hard to assess with the skills already in the organisation.

Shift42 can support the preliminary assessment, reconstruct relevant knowledge, and help identify constraints and checks before the technical perimeter is set.

Migration

A system looks ready to migrate: code and database are available, documentation too. But some described rules do not match the application's real behaviour. Before defining timelines and activities, we need to reconstruct what the system actually does and which dependencies must be considered.

Consulting firms

When a proposal needs technical evidence.

Objectives and strategic direction may be clear, while system behaviour, dependencies, and constraints that shape the options still need verification.

We can contribute with specialist assessments and checks on hypotheses, relating what the project aims to achieve with what we know about the existing system.

Feasibility study

A consulting firm is evaluating alternatives to modernise a client application. The strategic direction is clear, but technical constraints of the existing system lack evidence. Specialist analysis helps separate workable options from hypotheses still to be verified.

Large organisations and institutions

When the application estate needs a specialist view.

Internal teams know processes, priorities, and responsibilities, but may need targeted skills to analyse historical systems and prepare modernisation choices.

Shift42 can work with internal structures to reconstruct rules and dependencies, examine alternatives, and define what must be verified before starting an intervention.

Knowledge recovery

An institution is planning to modernise an application used for decades. The internal team knows the processes, but some rules remain only in the memory of a few specialists. Before deciding what to migrate, we can work together to recover and verify them.

Let's think through a solution together.

When evaluating a migration, early choices can shape all later work. That is why we believe in a thorough assessment and a roadmap built on verified information, already during the feasibility study.

Work perimeter, responsibilities, and any later activities are defined together, considering the client's objectives, the system's characteristics, and the skills available.

Taking part in preliminary evaluations does not necessarily mean owning the full delivery. It means helping spot problems and dependencies early that, if overlooked, could force revisiting decisions already made.

Growing together also means improving how we work.

Commercial opportunities are an important part of a collaboration, but not the only one. Sharing experience, problems, and skills can become a chance to build better tools, make analyses more accurate, and reduce repetitive work.

That is also the direction we are taking with DeFacto: today a specialist service for reconstructing knowledge of legacy systems, alongside evolving analysis tools.

The skills and methods we are consolidating may also apply in other contexts where complex information must be analysed, relationships reconstructed, and results verified.

Discover DeFacto

From analysis to roadmap, with the right people.

Our contribution does not end with system analysis. When the project requires it, we can also support partners in defining the roadmap, organising milestones, and coordinating agreed technical activities.

The Shift42 Operational Model lets us connect analysis, decisions, interventions, and checks through a shared method.

For those who collaborate with us, that means more complete support from professionals who can contribute to both technical evaluations and work organisation, without necessarily involving different counterparts for every activity.

Do you have an opportunity to evaluate together?

Tell us about the context, the system involved, and the specialist contribution you are looking for. An initial conversation will help us see whether the conditions for collaboration are there.
